Job summary

Gopuff is seeking a Principal Data Scientist, Consumer, to serve as the technical lead for personalizing the shopping experience. You will design and ship recommendation, ranking, and personalization models powering search, browse, carts, and CRM.

You will mentor data scientists, set technical direction, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to drive impact at scale, including agentic AI experiences with LLMs and real-time experimentation.

Qualifications

• Track record of shipping recommender or personalization systems at scale.
• Strong Python and core ML stack experience.
• Experience with A/B testing and offline-to-online metrics.

Responsibilities

• Own consumer personalization end to end across home feed, search, pages, cart, and CRM.
• Design candidate generation, retrieval, and learning-to-rank systems balancing relevance and inventory.
• Lead agentic AI initiatives using LLMs including tool use and guardrails.
• Blend gradient boosting, two-tower networks, and LLMs in production systems.
• Run rigorous experiments, design A/B tests, and link model gains to business outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers on pipelines and latency budgets.
• Mentor senior data scientists and shape standards for modeling and code quality.
• Shape the roadmap with product/engineering leaders and executives.
