Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Datastore team. You will help shape the core data model and API for brain data across clinical studies, in a fully remote US role with optional hubs in Boston, New York and Paris.

You will design and scale backend data infrastructure with PostgreSQL, Kafka pipelines, and a GraphQL API, collaborating with platform teams to unlock new workflows for researchers and clinicians.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience including data platforms.
• Strong SQL skills with hands-on PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience with data streaming and event processing (Kafka a plus).
• Proficiency in Julia or Python, with willingness to learn Julia.
• Experience deploying services in containerized environments (Kubernetes, IaC).
• Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js).

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into data platform integrations.
• Implement features with attention to data integrity, design soundness, and maintainability.
• Draft RFCs to guide complex feature discovery and design decisions.
• Ensure data moves between systems with completeness, idempotency, and predictable behavior.
• Improve robustness and usability via documentation, tooling, and dashboards.
