Job summary

Harbor Health in Texas is rebuilding the operating system of healthcare through the Harbor Data Systems (HDS) team. We seek a Principal Engineer, Data Architecture to lead design of foundational data structures and ontologies, turning raw claims, ADT, and EMR feeds into trusted data models powering patient care, risk adjustment, and financial decisions.

You will define data standards, guide Snowflake and real-time processing, mentor engineers on healthcare domain concepts, and represent data

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in healthcare payvider data domains and standards such as EDI, FHIR, and ADT.
• Experience designing scalable data platforms (Snowflake) with efficient schemas and cost-aware performance.
• Experience structuring large dbt projects for enterprise scale and governance.
• Ability to write performant SQL and read Python pipelines, guiding others toward architectural standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect core healthcare data models including Attribution, Risk, and Claims Adjudication.
• Define data stack standards and strategy (Snowflake, real-time streams, dbt environments).
• Design deterministic/probabilistic patient matching across fragmented sources (HIEs/EMRs/payers).
• Bridge Clinical/Business Operations with Engineering to translate needs into architecture.
• Mentor engineers on healthcare domain concepts and improve system design capabilities.
• Own execution of complex data architecture initiatives from inception to delivery.
