Job summary
Carrier Global Corporation seeks a Principal Controls Engineer to lead architecture, development, and deployment of control systems across HVAC and refrigeration products. The role emphasizes technical leadership, strategy influence, and collaboration with multiple business units.
Onsite work is standard, with East Syracuse, NY preferred. The candidate should have a strong background in advanced control theory, model-based design, and experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Modelica, and industrial
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 10+ years of advanced controls experience or Master’s with 7+ years.
- Proficient in controls engineering foundations including feedback, linear/nonlinear, multivariable control and system identification.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink to design and test embedded control algorithms.
- Experience with vapor‑compression cycles, heat exchangers, and turbomachinery compression technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and adoption of common controls platforms across product lines.
- Deliver production-ready control solutions compliant with requirements and standards.
- Drive project execution with clear technical goals and cross-functional coordination.
- Lead lab and field validation, MIL/SIL/HIL testing, and model-based design activities.
- Develop and calibrate physics-based plant models and nonlinear control strategies.
