Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is actively seeking a Cloud Computing Engineer Principal to lead Azure-based cloud initiatives for VA Enterprise Cloud environments. Remote, full-time, U.S.-based with strict government-security requirements.

You will architect, deploy, and optimize large-scale Azure infrastructure, oversee CI/CD automation, and enforce strong security controls across multi-subscription environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, deploying, and managing Azure infrastructure.
• Knowledge of large-scale, highly available cloud architectures.
• Proficiency with Azure security practices and services.
• Experience with multi-subscription governance and cost management.
• Scripting in Python/PowerShell/Bash/JS.
• Experience with IaC tools like ARM templates and Ansible.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions.
• Understanding HIPAA, FedRAMP, NIST, GDPR, PCI DSS.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Create data flow diagrams, cloud diagrams, transition diagrams, and high-level architecture diagrams on Cloud Infrastructure, applications, and systems.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate automation technologies for CI/CD.
• Manage and control permissions in the cloud service provider for each cloud application, storage, and service being hosted.
• Implement, manage, and design monitoring capabilities for cloud architecture and cloud-hosted systems and applications to ensure compliance with VA/Federal policies.
• Provide customer-focused support for VA Enterprise Cloud environments, including setup, configuration, and provisioning.
• Provide Cloud support services for VAEC Azure (GovCloud) environments, ensuring VIP development, release, and documentation adherence.
• Adopt a DevOps mindset with CI/CD practices and tooling.
• Provide Cloud Security Provider Documentation.
• Design VAEC/cloud-hosted solutions and address cloud-readiness gaps.
