Job summary

Westinghouse Electric seeks a Principal Civil Structural Engineer to support civil and structural design activities, including evaluation of steel, reinforced concrete, and composite steel structures. You will report to the Manager of BOP Design and Module Fabrication Support and work in a hybrid setup at Rock Hill, SC.

Responsibilities include design of infrastructure projects, site visits, resolving technical issues, using ANSYS/LS-DYNA/GTSTRUDL, and ensuring compliance with ACI, AISC, ASCE,

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in civil/structural engineering; FE/EIT or PE encouraged
• 8+ years of civil/structural experience
• Experience evaluating structural systems and design engineering

Responsibilities

• Design and develop infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and buildings
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress
• Evaluate structural systems such as steel, reinforced concrete, and composite steel
• Resolve technical issues in building design, fabrication, and construction phases
• Provide technical justification for design changes and emergent issues
• On-site support at utilities, sites and smaller projects
• Utilize ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL for analysis
• Maintain software compliance records and close engineering corrective actions
• Learn industry codes like ACI, AISC, ASCE, AWS
• Create sketches/markups with AutoCAD or similar
• Document design changes and revisions

About the role

As a Principal Civil Structural Engineer you will support civil and structural design activities such as structural systems evaluation for steel members, reinforced concrete and composite steel, resolving technical issues for design of building structures.

You will report to the Manager of BOP Design and Module Fabrication Support for Building Engineering & Physical Design. You will work a hybrid scenario at the discretion of the manager based in Rock Hill, SC.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, and buildings, ensuring safety and efficiency
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design specifications
• Evaluate structural systems like steel members, reinforced concrete, composite steel
• Resolve technical issues for building structure design, fabrication, assembly and construction phases
• Technical justification for design changes and emergent issues and troubleshooting
• On-site support at utilities, sites and smaller projects
• Use ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL
• Maintain software compliance records and closure of engineering corrective actions
• Learn industry civil/structural codes and standards like ACI, AISC, ASCE and AWS
• Sketches and markups using AutoCAD or similar CAD
• Document design change proposals, document revisions, new documents and drawing generation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural Engineering
• 8+ years of experience civil/structural
• Civil/structural evaluations, design engineering
• Interested in nuclear and interested in pursuing FE/EIT, PE certification
• Tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL or similar
