Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks a Senior Civil Structural Engineer in Rock Hill, SC to support civil and structural design activities for building projects. You will evaluate steel members, reinforced concrete and composite systems, resolving design issues and providing technical justification across construction phases.

You will perform site visits, provide on-site support, and utilize ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL and AutoCAD while learning relevant codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE, AWS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering required.
• 5+ years civil/structural experience required.
• Civil/structural evaluations and design engineering experience.
• Pursuing FE/EIT or PE certification encouraged.
• Experience with ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL or similar software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and buildings.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Evaluate structural systems including steel, reinforced concrete and composite steel.
• Resolve technical issues in building design, fabrication, assembly and construction phases.
• Provide technical justification for design changes and emergent issues.
• Provide on-site support at utilities, sites and smaller projects.
• Utilize ANSYS, LS-DYNA, GTSTRUDL and maintain software records.
• Learn and apply industry codes like ACI, AISC, ASCE and AWS.
• Prepare sketches/markups with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
• Document design change proposals, revisions and new drawings.
