SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the Starlink CDN. You will design, build, and scale a new Content Delivery Network, creating robust, scalable distributed systems and the tools to operate them in real time.

The role requires 10+ years of software development experience, expertise in C/C++/Rust, and strong networking and CDN background. You will lead architecture reviews and prototype future concepts while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or other STEM discipline with 10+ years of software development experience; or 12+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Software development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
• 5+ years of distributed systems experience or designing/building CDN systems.
• 7+ years of professional networking experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale a new Content Delivery Network (CDN) for Starlink.
• Build robust, responsive, and scalable distributed systems.
• Develop tools, visibility, and alerting to diagnose and operate complex systems in real time.
• Design algorithms to optimize hardware utilization and cost efficiency with key performance metrics.
• Implement traffic shaping across multiple CDNs.
• Lead architecture, design, and code reviews and develop prototypes for future concepts.
