Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer in Seattle to set the data vision for CXP, architect data systems, and lead analytics strategy. You will shape how we map customer journeys, build data products, and govern data at scale across multiple teams and executives.

You will mentor BIEs, collaborate with science, product, and engineering, and present strategic plans to senior leadership. This role reports to the CXP Data & Analytics organization and requires deep BI expertise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience.
• Experience building analytic data products or solutions.
• Experience building measures and metrics and developing reporting solutions.
• Experience coding in scripting languages such as Python, R, Matlab, or STATA.

Responsibilities

• Define the customer and map the journey; build data models and analytical frameworks for a unified customer view across channels.
• Own the data foundation for personalized support; curate data products like customer profiles and interaction histories.
• Own the architecture and roadmap for the analytics data ecosystem, including pipelines, schema design, data quality, and integration to BI/AI/ML systems.
• Operationalize data as a product with clear ownership, SLAs, lineage, and governance that scales across director-level orgs.
• Drive metric integrity by defining canonical definitions and reconciling data sources.
• Lead cross-functional alignment with Science, Product, and Engineering on data modeling and integration standards.
• Make high-judgment technical decisions on modeling trade-offs, buy vs build, and cost/performance optimization.
• Mentor a team of BIEs and raise analytics governance and AI/ML usage standards.
• Communicate strategy to Director/VP leadership through narratives and design docs.
