Job summary

Collectors Universe, Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and implement cloud-based software. You will own features end-to-end, from architecture decisions through deployment, with a focus on Python services and data-intensive APIs.

Collaboration with product, design and engineering teams is essential to deliver scalable solutions. The role emphasizes microservices, AWS technologies, containerization, and modern IaC, within a fast-paced, Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with backend focus.
• Strong Python proficiency and API design capability.
• Strong database fundamentals: PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• 5+ years with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, API Gateway).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS; IaC with CDK/CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into clean APIs.
• Collaborates with product and engineering teams; applies Agile/Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based software architectures.
• Own and deliver complete features from design to deployment.
• Review technical designs and provide constructive feedback.
• Analyze existing apps/databases to identify improvements.
• Design APIs supporting web and mobile experiences.
• Work across the full SDLC to move features to production.
• Collaborate across teams to craft solutions.
• Troubleshoot and debug large codebases; write unit/integration tests.
• Document technical assets to improve maintainability.
