Job summary

Satoriq seeks a hands-on Principal engineer to design and build backend services and product features that bring AI into civil, structural and MEP workflows. You’ll own systems end-to-end, set architecture direction, and work with the CTO in a hands-on IC role.

Expect to ship LLM-powered features, design multi-tenant, event-driven architectures, and ensure reliability with observability. On-site in New York City, five days weekly, with relocation support and healthcare.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building backend or distributed systems in production.
• Ownership of services with uptime, latency and scale requirements.
• Experience designing and evolving APIs, services and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered or agentic features to real users.
• Strong in at least one backend language (Kotlin or Python common); architecture judgment matters.
• Experience at a venture-backed startup or high-technical-bar company.
• Comfort with ambiguity and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and own backend services and APIs from new product features to core platform services.
• Build production systems that use LLMs, agents and RAG to parse documents and automate workflows.
• Design agentic workflows reliable in production: evaluation, guardrails, retries, failure handling and human review.
• Lead architecture of event-driven and asynchronous systems, including queues and background processing.
• Shape multi-tenant architecture to speed onboarding for new firms.
• Own reliability for what you ship: observability, incident response and performance.
• Use AI coding tools daily to move faster and set usage guidelines.
• Partner with CTO and forward deployed engineers on long-term architecture and engineering standards.
