Code and Theory is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead architecture and technical direction while directing a matrixed group of DevOps, infrastructure, and data engineering professionals in New York. This is a hands-on leadership role.

You'll set the architectural vision, raise the bar on engineering quality and velocity, and drive how AI reshapes the way we build and operate software.

Qualifications

• Cloud architecture with AWS, GCP or Azure mastery and multi-cloud experience.
• Strong backend systems experience with production deployments.
• Broad data engineering knowledge across pipelines and warehousing.
• DevOps mindset focused on quality, efficiency and flow, aided by AI.
• Experience leading engineers in matrixed structures and cross-functional setups.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Manage pods of engineers building the flagship product.
• Lead cloud architecture across the organization and multi-cloud patterns.
• Direct DevOps strategy with a focus on quality, efficiency, and AI-powered workflows.
• Shape backend architecture and set standards for development.
• Evolve data engineering pipelines, storage, and processing for reliability.
