Job summary

Humana seeks a Principal Automation Engineer to define, design, and scale enterprise-wide test automation strategies and AI-enabled quality engineering capabilities. This leadership role partners with engineering, architecture, DevOps, product, and QA teams to accelerate software delivery through modern automation.

You will drive framework engineering, build reusable automation components, and guide teams toward scalable automation in cloud-native, microservices, and API-first environments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software quality engineering, automation, SDET, or software engineering experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise automation frameworks.
• Deep expertise with automation technologies including Selenium, Playwright, Tosca, Cypress, Appium, API Automation frameworks.
• Extensive experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), qTest, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Strong programming skills in Java, C#, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
• Experience implementing automation solutions for web, API, microservices, cloud-native, and distributed applications.
• Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, CI, and CD practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute enterprise automation architecture strategy and roadmap with QE Architects.
• Create standards, reference architectures, patterns, and best practices for quality engineering and automation.
• Evaluate emerging automation technologies and AI-driven testing solutions.
• Serve as the enterprise automation SME for modern quality engineering practices.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and reusable components.
• Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and enterprise tools like Azure DevOps, qTest, Tosca, Jira.
• Provide mentorship to Quality Engineers and Automation Engineers; develop training materials.
