Job summary

Wagmo Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer to own the application architecture, including insurance, claims, and AI systems. You will drive technical direction, set integration standards, and maintain a blocker-free environment for two squads while hands-on coding.

You will design a unified identity framework, mentor squad tech leads, and define how we scale with partner onboarding and orchestrated deployments. This role combines strategic thinking with practical execution.

Qualifications

• Experience owning cross-cutting architectural decisions across domains.
• Proven track record retiring and scaling complex systems with multiple paths.
• Deep work in Python and Django with data modeling and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (GCP) is useful.
• Ability to advocate for what not to build and document decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture across insurance, claims, partner integration, and AI systems.
• Define identity architecture spanning enterprise SSO, partner portal, and consumer auth.
• Lead architecture reviews and maintain a decision log with clear outcomes.
• Mentor tech leads and raise standards for technical design without people mgmt.
• Ensure two squads can execute designs without escalation and blockers are removed.
• Shape the stack and scope, prioritizing impactful work over non-core features.
