Job summary

Nike seeks a Principal AI Systems Engineer in Beaverton to lead AI-driven firmware and controls development for next‑generation powered athlete products. The role combines AI/ML, simulation, and embedded software across hardware and software teams.

You will develop scalable AI-powered workflows, build engineering tooling, and design robust pipelines for model development to real‑time implementation. A senior, hands-on leader with 10+ years is expected.

Qualifications

Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience or PhD with 7+ years of relevant work.
Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or Robotics.
Experience in production AI/ML systems, simulation environments, and toolchains.

Responsibilities

Develop AI-powered foundations to accelerate firmware and controls work.
Build scalable simulation and sim-to-real environments for rapid testing.
Create training, testing, and deployment frameworks for real-time embedded systems.
Collaborate with firmware, controls, hardware, and product teams to remove bottlenecks.
Design automated optimization and evaluation systems for controller performance.
Apply ML, pattern recognition, and data-driven techniques to root-cause analysis.
