Job summary

SCAN Health Plan in Long Beach seeks a Principal AI Security Engineer to architect and guard our AI ecosystem. You will shape end-to-end secure AI architectures, integrate MCP, and drive guardrails across Azure OpenAI Studio, Foundry, and Search.

This hands-on leadership role reports to the Director of Cybersecurity, combining governance with technical execution. You will implement secure data workflows, threat modeling, and observability with SOC partners to protect member data while enabling

Qualifications

• 10+ years in cybersecurity with experience in AI/ML security
• Strong Azure security experience across OpenAI, Foundry and Search
• Deep understanding of LLM vulnerabilities (prompt injection, data leakage)
• Experience securing AI data workflows and vector databases

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure-by-design AI architectures across the AI lifecycle
• Lead security configuration for Azure OpenAI Studio, Azure AI Foundry and Azure AI Search
• Develop and deploy controls for prompt injection mitigation, rate limiting, and content filtering
• Secure MCP integration for safe communication between models and data sources
• Establish AI security governance based on global frameworks and enforce policies
• Create guardrails and monitoring dashboards in partnership with SOC
