Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Principal Architect for its Enterprise AI Platform. You will lead a 5-layer architecture across global units, ensuring coherence, API standardization, security, and observability.

You will author ADRs, drive ARB submissions, and develop 3-year TCO models while influencing through design excellence. Required expertise includes LLM architectures, attention, KV-cache, context windows, token economics, and experience with multi-cloud environments (GCP/AWS).

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing scalable distributed platforms with ADRs and reference architectures.
• Deep technical proficiency in LLM architecture including attention mechanisms, KV-cache, context windows, and token economics.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments (GCP and AWS) and API platform design (OpenAI-compatible interfaces).
• Experience presenting architecture recommendations to VP/SVP-level leadership.

Responsibilities

• Direct the 5-layer architecture stack with formal layer boundaries and interface contracts to ensure platform scalability.
• Define API conventions, security patterns, and observability requirements; oversee architecture reviews for BU agent architectures.
• Lead complex build-vs-buy analyses and develop 3-year TCO models; formulate multi-cloud strategies balancing central services with decentralized needs.
• Architect enterprise security and governance, including policy, identity, auth, and guardrails for Responsible AI.
• Collaborate with executives and external cloud partners on capacity planning and drive reference architectures across the enterprise.
