Job summary

Murata Vios is seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in AI/ML to shape the technical direction for AI in medical devices. You will blend leadership with hands-on development to deliver impactful AI solutions.

You will collaborate with product, clinical, quality, regulatory, and software teams to design scalable AI platforms, deploy models, and ensure regulatory compliance, driving improved patient outcomes. Hybrid work in Minnesota is available for this role.

Qualifications

• PhD with 7+ years in related field.
• Experience with CNNs, RNNs, transformers for biomedical data.
• MLOps, CI/CD for ML, automated training pipelines.
• Cloud/container deployment on AWS/Azure; Docker/Kubernetes.
• Explainable AI, regulatory validation for medical devices.
• DSP, time-series and medical image analysis experience.
• Foundation models/LLMs a plus; strong MATLAB/Linux/Python.
• Software engineering best practices and Agile.
• Regulatory knowledge: FDA ISO 13485 exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of scalable AI platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to AI/ML engineers.
• Lead reviews and key architectural decisions for AI-enabled products.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies for competitive advantage.
• Collaborate with product, clinical, quality, regulatory, and software teams to define AI roadmaps.
• Integrate AI/ML models into existing software frameworks with medical devices.
• Develop ML algorithms for medical data (images, biosignals).
• Deploy scalable AI/ML pipelines from research to production.
• Develop deep learning models for biomedical signal, time-series, and image analysis.
• Validate models for robustness, interpretability, and regulatory compliance.
