This role is contract-to-hire. You join Taidou as an independent contractor for an onboarding period, after which you convert to a full-time position with

• Shape the practice's offerings in AI & Data, Platform & Cloud, Engineering Delivery and AI Governance.
• Own the most senior client relationships and originate the largest engagements.
• Hire, lead and develop the service line's team, from senior consultants to senior directors.
• Set delivery standards — named scope, named exclusions, handover after adoption — and hold the practice to them.
• Work with the other service lines, Taidou Atlas and Taidou GPS on cross-practice work.
• Represent Taidou externally as a recognized expert in the field.

Our consulting practice brings eight service lines — AI & Engineering, Assurance, Finance, Global Services, Human Capital, Project Management, Regulatory, Risk & Forensic, and Transformation Consulting — to organizations in complex, regulated sectors across aerospace & defense, consumer, education, energy, financial services, government & public services, health care, insurance, sports, technology, media & telecom, and utilities & renewables.

We are senior-led and built flat: the people in the first conversation are the people doing the work, every engagement starts with a written list of what we are deliberately not doing, and we hand over only once the change is running — to named owners inside the client. We take no referral fees, reseller margins or commissions from any vendor, which is what lets us tell a client the answer is not to buy anything.

The Role

As Principal, AI & Engineering, you lead the AI & Engineering service line. You set its strategy and offerings, own its revenue and quality, build its team, and are the firm's senior voice in this discipline — with clients, in the market and inside Taidou. Data platforms, integration, model deployment and the governance underneath — delivered by the same team that redesigns the decision the output is meant to inform.

What You'll Do

• Lead the AI & Engineering service line: strategy, offerings, go-to-market, revenue and quality.

Qualifications

Required

• 15+ years of experience in AI & engineering, including building or leading a practice, business line or function.
• A strong executive network and a record of originating significant revenue.
• Recognized expertise and credibility with senior buyers.
• Experience building and leading high-performing senior teams.
• Eligible to work in the United States.

Preferred (nice to have, not required)

• Experience in one or more of our industries: aerospace & defense, consumer, education, energy, financial services, government & public services, health care, insurance, sports, technology, media & telecom, and utilities & renewables.
• Consulting background combined with time in industry running the work.
• Relevant professional certifications for the service line.

How We Work

• Senior-led delivery — no bench, no handoff between the team that wins the work and the team that runs it.
• Named scope and named exclusions, agreed before work starts.
• Handover after adoption, to named owners, with a follow-up review we schedule ourselves.
• Independence from vendors: no referral fees, reseller margins or commissions.

Engagement & Compensation

This role is contract-to-hire. You join Taidou as an independent contractor for an initial onboarding period (typically 90 days), during which we agree your goals together. Once the conversion criteria set out in your offer are met, you convert to a full-time position with benefits.

Compensation is competitive and set according to experience and scope, and includes commission on the business you originate or grow. Full details are confirmed in your offer letter.
