Job summary

MiniMed is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to lead hands-on AI capabilities in a regulated medical-device context. You will take AI/ML models and LLM-powered agents from quick proofs of life to production, establishing reusable patterns and guardrails without people management responsibilities.

You will own the capability from prototype through initial production release, wire agents into enterprise systems, and ensure auditability and compliance while driving measurable business value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 8+ years with advanced degree.
• Experience delivering AI/ML and LLM-powered systems into production.
• Deep understanding of MLOps in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Prototype AI/ML models and agents against real business data.
• Drive production deployment with reliable, auditable patterns.
• Integrate agents and models with enterprise systems (APIs, SSO, data pipelines).
• Define reusable patterns for design, tool-calling, retrieval, and evaluation.
• Lead platform learnings back to the MIA platform and tooling.
• Work in a fully technical, non-management role focusing on outcomes.
