Job summary

Autonomize AI is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and deploy ML/AI systems behind healthcare AI agents and copilots. You will own end-to-end models, including LLMs, vision-language models, and classical ML, in a regulated environment.

You will lead architecture, fine-tuning, RAG retrieval, and evaluation, shipping real-world impact while collaborating with product, clinical experts, and leadership. This is an on-site role in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of ML engineering experience with production LLM/GenAI work.
• Proven track record shipping production-grade models in regulated environments.
• Hands-on with LLMs, vision/VLMs, and NLP/ML.
• Strong fine-tuning, hyperparameter optimization, and distributed training.
• Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector search, and agent architectures.
• Rigorous evaluation, experimental design, and error analysis.
• Advanced Python skills and PyTorch/Hugging Face expertise.
• Experience with MLOps/LLMOps (MLflow, Kubeflow, Kubernetes).
• Solid software fundamentals and responsible AI understanding.

Responsibilities

• Architect production AI systems with LLM-powered agents and ML pipelines.
• Lead document intelligence using VLMs, OCR, and extraction.
• Drive fine-tuning strategies including LoRA and RL-based tuning.
• Design retrieval and reasoning systems with RAG and knowledge graphs.
• Blend classical ML with LLM components for scalable solutions.
• Define eval strategies and drive accuracy toward targets.
• Build feedback loops to improve models from production signals.
• Ensure model outputs are traceable, auditable, and safe.
