Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine seeks a Principal Engineer to lead software and AI efforts for high-throughput cell therapy discovery. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/data science or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience designing and delivering complex software systems in data-intensive environments.
• Proven track record integrating AI/ML or generative AI into production software.
• Experience using AWS for compute, storage, and data transfer.
• Strong systems thinking and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; travel 10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement scalable architecture linking lab automation, data, and workflows.
• Build applications, APIs, data pipelines, and visualization tools for cell therapy discovery.
• Develop AI-enabled capabilities including ML, generative AI, and retrieval-augmented workflows.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI/Software to improve productivity and decisions.
• Translate complex experiments into maintainable digital solutions.
• Organize screening data and metadata to improve planning and analysis.
• Establish engineering best practices for architecture, testing, and deployment.
• Foster partnerships across Discovery Research, IT, and Business Technology.
• Mentor scientists and engineers in software engineering and AI governance.
