Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced AI software engineer to join our data science and product teams in Roy, UT. The role blends strong programming skills with expertise in LLM deployment, agentic AI frameworks, and large-scale data platforms to build end-to-end AI solutions that differentiate products and scale.

Senior Principal/Principal roles involve Python/JS proficiency, hands-on LLMs like Ollama and Llama.cpp, and integration with OpenAI/Claude/Gemini APIs.

Qualifications

• 5 years experience with a Bachelor's in a relevant field; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret clearance; US citizenship and SAP access.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript with production-grade code experience.
• Familiarity with locally hosted LLMs (Ollama, Llama.cpp) and AI service APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google).
• Experience building agentic AI solutions using LangChain, LangGraph, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Defines, develops, and delivers mathematical and statistical modeling and algorithm development for prediction, optimization, and classification.
• Applies ML algorithms to large structured/unstructured data for pattern recognition, target detection, tracking, ML and decision systems, and robotics.
• Prototypes advanced AI techniques to extend autonomous systems R&D.
• Designs, develops, tests, and debugs applications and systems with mathematical solutions.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to deploy ML algorithms to prototype testing and production; ensure software standards.
• May use system-of-systems and multi-agent approaches to architect AI software systems.
• Performs integration, regression, and formal qualification testing in an agile environment.
• Works with AI Systems Engineers to understand program intent and output requirements.
• May design software architectures that implement AI techniques to meet performance requirements.
