Job summary

United is seeking a Principal Developer to design, build, test, deploy, and support AI agents and related services. You will connect existing capabilities—Flight Shopping, Shopping Cart, and Reference Data—to AI-enabled experiences via secure tools, APIs, and agent services.

You will lead hands-on development, establish engineering patterns, review code, and mentor teammates while delivering reliable, scalable solutions that align with product goals and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Seven years of software development experience with API and distributed services.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications or AI agents.
• Strong Python and C#/.NET engineering skills.
• Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS, and automated build/deploy pipelines.
• Ability to translate designs into tested, deployable code and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy, and support AI agents and related services.
• Create reusable tools and APIs exposing business capabilities to AI agents.
• Implement agent capabilities such as tool selection, context management, and workflows.
• Develop production-ready integrations with enterprise systems with security controls.
• Lead code reviews, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to define technical requirements and deliverables.
