OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to define and build the next generation of AI-powered software development workflows. This role spans UI, tooling, orchestration, agent design, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure, with leadership across multiple teams.

You will be a technical multiplier, reviewing designs, mentoring engineers, and shaping engineering practices while contributing directly to implementation on the most challenging problems.

Qualificações

• Proven track record leading complex software systems.
• Experience turning ambiguous problems into product and system strategy.
• Ability to mentor engineers and raise team quality.

Responsabilidades

• Set technical and product direction for Codex areas with scalable architectures.
• Lead multi-quarter initiatives spanning client apps, backend services, agent systems, cloud infrastructure, and developer tooling.
• Design AI-powered workflows across languages and environments for reliability and safety.
• Make high-consequence architectural decisions under ambiguity and focus on long-term quality.
• Identify cross-team opportunities, align stakeholders, and drive work from exploration to launch.
• Partner with product, design, research, infrastructure, security, and GTM teams to translate model capabilities into experiences.
• Work with developers, open-source maintainers, startups, and enterprises to uncover unmet needs.
• Establish patterns for reliability, observability, performance, experimentation across workflows.
• Contribute to implementation in areas that are novel or technically demanding.
