Job summary

Banner Bank is seeking a Principal AI & Cloud Security Engineer to shape how the organization securely adopts and scales AI-powered solutions and Azure cloud technologies. This senior individual contributor defines the strategic direction for AI and cloud security across multiple teams.

You will lead threat modeling, secure code review practices, and runtime protections for agentic AI workflows while embedding security governance into Azure DevSecOps pipelines and infrastructure decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering or related field (Required).
• Master's degree (Preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in security engineering, secure SDLC, threat modeling, and Azure cloud security in enterprise cloud environments (Required).
• Experience in financial services or banking environments (Preferred).
• Security certifications such as CISSP, Azure Security Engineer, GIAC, or similar (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the enterprise security strategy and architecture for AI-powered systems and Azure cloud environments, including identity, network security, data protection, and secure cloud and hybrid designs.
• Establish and govern security controls, guardrails, and runtime protections for agentic AI workflows and tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, and custom agents).
• Lead threat modeling for AI systems and Azure-hosted workloads, identifying risks from adversarial inputs, cloud vulnerabilities, autonomous agents, and emerging attack vectors.
• Evaluate AI-generated and cloud-integrated code for security, quality, correctness, and performance; define enterprise standards for secure code review.
• Architect and oversee security tooling and monitoring to scale AI agents and Azure resources using Defender for Cloud, Azure Monitor, and Sentinel.
• Embed security governance into SDLC and Azure DevSecOps via Security Posture Management, Azure Policy, Key Vault, and IaC standards.
• Research emerging AI and cloud security threats, regulations, and trends; translate insights into actionable enterprise security improvements.
• Mentor engineering teams on secure AI adoption, cloud security best practices, and enterprise security standards.
