Job summary

Banner Bank is seeking a Principal AI & Cloud Security Engineer to lead security strategy for AI-powered and Azure cloud solutions. This remote role within WA, ID, OR influences enterprise standards, governance, and safe adoption of cutting-edge technologies.

You will guide threat modeling, secure coding, and DevSecOps practices while mentoring teams and shaping security programs across the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (Required).
Master's degree preferred.
8+ years of security engineering experience including Azure security for AI/ML and agentic systems (Required).
Experience in financial services or banking environments preferred.
Security certifications such as CISSP, Azure Security Engineer, GIAC preferred.

Responsibilities

Define and lead the enterprise security strategy and architecture for AI-powered systems and Azure cloud environments.
Establish and govern security controls, guardrails, and runtime protections for agentic AI workflows.
Lead threat modeling for AI systems and Azure workloads, addressing adversarial inputs and cloud vulnerabilities.
Evaluate AI-generated and cloud-integrated code for security, quality, and performance; define secure coding standards.
Architect and oversee security tooling and monitoring for AI agents and Azure resources at scale (Defender for Cloud, Monitor, Sentinel).
Embed security governance into SDLC and Azure DevSecOps pipelines via Security Posture Management, Azure Policy, Key Vault, and IaC standards.
Research emerging AI/cloud security threats and translate insights into enterprise security improvements.
Mentor engineering teams on secure AI adoption and enterprise security standards.
