Job summary

Shipt is seeking a Principal Agentic Engineer in Gig Operations to architect and deploy our foundational Agentic AI platform, optimizing real time routing, pay, and coverage across the national fulfillment network.

Collaborate with data science, engineering, and product teams to integrate autonomous reasoning loops, tool binding frameworks, and multi-agent orchestration into high throughput microservices, driving scalable, compliant, and cost effective operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend software development experience in distributed systems.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and drive consensus.
• Strong mentorship to grow staff and engineers into leaders.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Go.
• Experience with SOA, microservices, and distributed architectures.
• Proven ability to deploy systems using LLMs beyond chat interfaces.
• Design of offline/online evaluation for agent performance and risk triggers.
• Familiarity with orchestration platforms like LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI.
• Experience with tracing and debugging agentic reasoning (LangSmith, Langfuse).

Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy Shipt's Agentic AI platform for real time routing, pay and coverage.
• Collaborate with data science, engineering, and product teams on integration of autonomous loops.
• Lead multi-region, high throughput microservices with strong reliability and cost controls.
