Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools seeks a Principal to lead and advance the instructional program, manage resources, and build strong relationships with students, families, staff, and the community. Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
  • Doctoral Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
  • Three (3) years experience as a school-based administrator required.
  • Hold or be eligible for Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal licensure issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.

  • Define the school’s mission and communicate the goals of the total school program.

  • Create, maintain, and monitor a monthly meeting calendar for faculty collaboration and a culture focused on rigor and learning.
  • Coordinate the instructional program of the school with central office staff and staff development; supervise the instructional program.
  • Improve instructional practices through observation and evaluation of teachers.
  • Lead and direct the process of continuous school improvement.
  • Develop a school improvement plan (SIP) supporting the district’s strategic plan and state growth measures.
  • Monitor and assess student achievement using technology and multiple data sources.
  • Engage community stakeholders in a shared responsibility for student learning and school success.
  • Develop approaches to improve and maintain a positive culture for learning across diverse communities.
  • Create and implement school-wide supervision plans for safety and orderliness.
  • Develop procedures and drills for emergencies and disasters.

Job Summary

Administers, evaluates, and modifies, as necessary, the instructional programs offered by the school. Manages school, human, and financial resources, buildings, grounds, and equipment. Establishes effective relationships with students, parents, staff, community groups, and Central Office support staff. Responsible for providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Education
  • Master’s Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
  • Doctoral Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
  • Three (3) years experience as a school-based administrator required.

Licenses and Certifications

Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment.
