Job Summary
Administers, evaluates, and modifies instructional programs offered by the school as necessary. Manages school, human, and financial resources, buildings, grounds, and equipment. Establishes effective relationships with students, parents, staff, community groups, and Central Office support staff. Responsible for providing a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities
- Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of all school personnel; report and monitor employees not meeting contractual requirements.
- Define the school’s mission and communicate goals for the total school program.
- Provide instructional leadership for the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment through purposeful observation and evaluation of teachers.
- Create, maintain, and monitor a monthly meeting calendar that facilitates faculty and staff collaboration and promotes a culture focused on rigor and learning for all students.
- Coordinate the instructional program of the school with central office staff and the staff development office; supervise the instructional program.
- Improve instructional practices through purposeful observation and evaluation of teachers.
- Lead and direct the process of continuous school improvement.
- Develop a school improvement plan that supports the district’s strategic plan and required state growth measures.
- Monitor and assess student achievement using technology and multiple sources of data.
- Engage all community stakeholders in shared responsibility for student learning and school success.
- Develop an approach to improve and maintain a positive culture for learning that capitalizes on cultural diversity to meet the needs of all students.
- Create and implement school-wide supervision plans that establish and maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Develop procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies and disasters.
- Seek and engage in professional activities that foster leadership development.
- Administer and coordinate school discipline in a fair and consistent manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
- Master’s Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university required.
- Doctoral Degree in a related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
Experience
- Three (3) years of experience as a school-based administrator required.

- Supervision of school activities both inside and outside the classroom, before and after school.

- Proficiency with business technology applications such as Video/Web Conferencing and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Licenses and Certifications
- Hold or be eligible for Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal licensure issued by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) required.
Driving Requirements
- Driving required to conduct bona fide Board business within the scope of employment in this position.
