Job summary

Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer for our Princeton, New Jersey team.

The designer will work on power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecom plans for diverse building projects, ensuring codes and project goals are met. The role requires a strong foundation in electrical design, 5+ years of experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, and excellent communication to coordinate with clients and design teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional buildings.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firms is preferred.
• Solid understanding of NEC and IBC codes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans, including circuits, details, one-line diagrams, and specs.
• Perform system design calculations, load, arc flash, fault current, and lighting calculations.
• Prepare electrical construction documents, drawings, specs, and reports.
• Review electrical designs for conflicts with other building systems.
• Coordinate with clients, owners, architects, contractors, and other disciplines.
• Assist in selecting and specifying equipment for building systems.
• Prepare specifications and write reports.
• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to understand needs.
