Job summary

Owen Thomas Group in Newton, MA is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our established multidisciplinary team. You will design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, municipal, and healthcare projects, and contribute to project delivery from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering, 3–7 years of design experience, proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD, and an EIT certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 3–7 years electrical design experience, preferably in the A/E, MEP, or building systems industry.
• Experience designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and/or low-voltage systems.
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• EIT certification required.
• PE license preferred or actively being pursued.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and other construction documents.
• Perform site visits, field surveys, and inspections during design and construction.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Ensure designs meet applicable electrical codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Serve as Project Engineer and take the lead on smaller, less complex projects.
• Work with clients, internal project teams, contractors, and other project stakeholders throughout design and construction.
• Produce and modify designs using Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
• Manage assigned work to meet project schedules and deadlines.
