Job summary

Niobrara Market is seeking a Meat Cutter to prepare, cut, weigh, package, and label meat products for retail and wholesale. The role ensures product quality, freshness, sanitation, and safety while supporting other store operations.

Responsibilities include assisting customers with cuts and cooking methods, rotating stock, and helping with deliveries, stocking, and cashier duties as needed. The position requires familiarity with meat processing and standing in a cold environment.

Qualifications

• Previous meat-cutting or related food-processing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with meat types, cuts, and preparation methods.
• Ability to work safely around knives, saws, grinders, slicers, refrigerated areas, and freezers.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Physical stamina for heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in cold environments.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Cutting and trimming meat and cutting loins into steaks, roasts and ground meat.
• Weighing and packaging meat portions and labeling with cut, grade and best-by date.
• Assist customers with product selections and provide cooking recommendations.
• Maintain sanitation and clean knives and equipment.
• Monitor meat stock levels and rotate products to ensure freshness.
• Inspect meat for quality and remove defects.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain proper temperatures.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, stocking, cashier duties and alcohol sales as needed.
