Placements24 is seeking an Aftercare Supervisor for a reputable primary school in Welkom, Free State. You will oversee the after-school program, ensuring safety, engagement, and a positive learning environment for primary-aged children, from dismissal to pickup.

Your role includes organizing activities, supporting homework, coordinating routines, and liaising with parents and staff to maintain a calm, structured aftercare setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in school, aftercare, or camp setting.
• First Aid and CPR certification is essential.
• Strong understanding of child safety and supervision principles.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff.
• Patience, responsibility, and a nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the aftercare program.
• Organise and lead a variety of age-appropriate recreational and educational activities.
• Provide homework assistance and ensure children have a quiet space to work.
• Manage daily routines, including snack times and preparation for collection.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe environment within the aftercare facility.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s day and any pertinent information.
• Implement and enforce school policies and procedures within the aftercare program.
• Administer basic first-aid and manage minor incidents as they arise.
• Liaise with school administration and teaching staff as needed.
• Ensure a smooth and orderly pick-up process for all children.
