METUCHEN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY is seeking an Aftercare Assistant to supervise students after the regular school day in a Christ-centered environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and helps maintain a safe, nurturing atmosphere where students are supported and valued.

This hourly role runs 3:00pm to 6:30pm, requires standing and supervising across age groups, and involves activities, homework support, dismissal, and clear communication

Aufgaben

• Student Supervision: Maintain active supervision of students from preschool through Middle School ages, ensuring safety.
• Safe Environment: Maintain appropriate separation and supervision of younger and older students when necessary.
• Positive Behavior: Encourage respectful behavior, kindness, cooperation, and compassion per policies.
• Activities and Enrichment: Organize and supervise age-appropriate games, crafts, reading, and play.
• Homework Support: Provide a quiet environment for students to complete homework and assist as needed.
• Transitions and Dismissal: Manage attendance, transitions, and release to authorized individuals.
• Communication: Interact respectfully with parents, students, and coworkers; report concerns to administration.
• Health and Safety: Follow emergency procedures and safety guidelines; report injuries promptly.
• Preschool Care: Assist younger children with personal care and routines following safeguarding procedures.
• Classroom and Facility Care: Keep aftercare areas clean and ready for next day.
• Teamwork: Cooperate with staff and administration to maintain routines.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties related to supervision as assigned.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and helps create a positive atmosphere where students feel safe, supported, and valued.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Student Supervision: Maintain active supervision of students from either preschool or Kindergarten through Middle School ages, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
• Safe Environment: Maintain appropriate separation and supervision of younger and older students when necessary.
• Positive Behavior: Encourage respectful behavior, kindness, cooperation, and Christ-like compassion while following school discipline policies.
• Activities and Enrichment: Organize and supervise age-appropriate games, crafts, reading, quiet activities, and outdoor or indoor play as permitted.
• Homework Support: Provide a quiet environment for students to complete homework and offer appropriate assistance when needed.
• Transitions and Dismissal: Maintain accurate attendance, supervise transitions, and release students only to authorized individuals according to school procedures.
• Communication: Communicate respectfully with parents, students, and coworkers. Refer concerns regarding behavior, injuries, parent complaints, or other significant matters to the administration.
• Health and Safety: Follow school emergency procedures, sanitation practices, and all applicable safety guidelines. Report injuries, accidents, and incidents promptly.
• Preschool Care: Assist younger children with age-appropriate personal care and bathroom routines while following school hygiene, privacy, and safeguarding procedures.
• Classroom and Facility Care: Keep aftercare areas clean, organized, and ready for the next school day.
• Teamwork: Cooperate with fellow staff members and administration to maintain consistent routines and a supportive school culture.
• Additional Responsibilities: Complete other reasonable duties related to student supervision and the aftercare program as assigned by the administration.

Professional Expectations

All Aftercare Staff Members are expected to:

• Maintain professional boundaries with students and families.
• Never leave students unattended or rely on another staff member without a clear handoff of supervisory responsibility.
• Follow school policies regarding authorized pickup, student privacy, photography, and communication.
• Keep personal cell phone use to a minimum and never allow it to interfere with student supervision or personal care responsibilities.
• Treat all children with patience, dignity, fairness, and respect.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
• Report safety concerns, injuries, suspected abuse or neglect, and inappropriate conduct according to school policy and applicable law.
• Model the Christian values and standards.
