Job summary

Poughkeepsie City School District is seeking an experienced Primary Instructional Coach to strengthen early learning and the core literacy program across PreK–Primary grades. You will build teacher capacity, model effective practices, and design targeted supports to improve student outcomes with a focus on foundational literacy, numeracy, and inclusive instruction.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of successful teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of the Science of Reading; LETRS or Orton-Gillingham preferred.
• Experience with MTSS, AIS, differentiated instruction, and targeted interventions.
• Experience coaching teachers and delivering professional development.
• Ability to analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions.
• Knowledge of supporting multilingual learners and students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate collaborative professional learning and grade-level meetings focused on instructional improvement and student achievement.
• Model effective instructional practices, supporting classroom implementation, and providing constructive, non-evaluative feedback to strengthen teaching and learning.
• Assist teachers in planning and implementing targeted instruction and interventions aligned with students' strengths and needs.
• Guide teachers in analyzing assessment data and progress-monitoring results to inform instructional decisions and evaluate student growth.
• Collaborate with principals, AIS providers, special education staff, ENL teachers, and other support personnel to strengthen core instruction and coordinate supports across grade levels.
• Provide instructional coaching across grade levels and content areas, based on district priorities and student achievement data.
• Maintain weekly documentation outlining coaching activities and progress toward identified objectives.
