Job summary

The Primary Care Clinic within the Northern California VA Health Care System seeks a physician responsible for the comprehensive medical care of enrolled veterans. The physician reports to the Clinic Lead and works with a multidisciplinary team in a full-time capacity.

Responsibilities include evaluating acute and chronic conditions, performing histories and exams, prescribing medications, coordinating tests, and teaching residents.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an approved medical school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US.
• Residency in an approved core specialty leading to board eligibility.
• Board certified or board eligible in internal medicine or family medicine.
• Ability to complete TB testing and immunization evaluations; meeting physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for a panel of outpatients as assigned by NCHCS.
• Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems in the clinic.
• Perform histories and physical examinations.
• Prescribe medications and order routine laboratory and radiology tests.
• Provide education to patients and families and maintain thorough documentation.
• Serve as a preceptor for residents in the clinic setting.
