The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs in California seeks a Physician (Primary Care) to provide comprehensive care for outpatient panels within the Northern California VA Health Care System. The incumbent reports to the Clinic Lead and works full-time, with a focus on evidence-based medicine and team-based care.

The role requires board-eligible/certified internal or family medicine, a current unrestricted license, and VA-approved residency.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; non-citizens may be appointed only when VA policy allows.
• MD/DO degree from VA-approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US or DC.
• Residency training approved by VA or equivalent post-training experience.
• Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Pre-placement TB testing and immunization evaluations.
• Must meet physical requirements; able to lift 15-44 pounds.
• This is a designated drug testing position; random drug testing post-appointment.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate care for a panel of outpatients in the NCHCS.
• Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems in the clinic setting.
• Perform histories and physical exams.
• Prescribe medications and order routine laboratory, radiology, and diagnostics; provide initial interpretation.
• Ensure documentation includes history, exam findings, diagnosis, and disposition; provide next steps for care.
• Serve as a preceptor for residents in the clinic setting.
• Provide education to patients and families as necessary.
