Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in California seeks a Primary Care physician to join the Northern California VA Health Care System.

The clinician will provide comprehensive outpatient care, coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, perform histories and exams, and manage patient treatment plans within the clinic setting. The role requires an MD/DO, an unrestricted US license, appropriate residency training, and eligibility or board certification in internal or family medicine.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required
• MD or DO from an approved school
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US
• Residency training in core specialty leading to board eligibility
• Board certification or eligibility in internal medicine or family medicine preferred
• Pre-placement TB testing and immunization evaluations
• Physical requirements and job-related physical standards
• Designation as a drug-testing position; random testing after appointment

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for outpatient panel as assigned by NCHCS
• Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems in clinic
• Perform histories and physical examinations
• Provide documentation including history, exam findings, diagnosis, and care plan
• Prescribe medications and order routine labs/imaging
• Initiate and expedite consultations and special tests
• Precept residents in the clinic setting
• Educate patients and families as necessary
