Job summary

Beacon Health System in Kalamazoo, MI seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to expand individualized primary health care services in collaboration with a physician, diagnosing and treating selected acute and chronic conditions.

Responsibilities include taking histories, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, delivering preventive care, counseling patients and families, documenting care, and coordinating with specialists and community resources in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current, valid state licensure and appropriate certification (NCCPA or ANCC/AANP) before hire.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications as required or BLS within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
• Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies; conducts preventative health assessments and immunizations.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral when needed.
• Counsels and educates patients and families concerning preventative health and care options; documents care.
