Job summary

Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata, California, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Primary Care Clinic. Under the supervision of the physician or nurse practitioner, you will provide direct patient care and support to the practitioner within a defined scope of practice.

You will assist with in-office procedures, implement the patient’s plan of care, and educate patients and families. The role may include greeting patients, answering phones, and light filing as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of medical office experience preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred; if not certified, must be willing to train with the intent of becoming certified.
• Injection Certification preferred; if not certified, must be willing to obtain injection and venipuncture certificates.
• Current BLS certification.
• Good verbal communication skills to receive and give information in person and by phone.
• Maturity and emotional stability; ability to handle fast-paced physical activity and demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and supportive duties to the practitioner.
• Assist with in-office procedures and the patient’s plan of care implementation.
• Provide patient/family education.
• May assist with greeting patients, answering the phone and filing as needed.
