Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Primary Care Medical Assistant for a float pool role supporting multiple clinics in the St. Louis area. The home clinic is Winding Woods (300 Winding Woods) with opportunities to float to other St.

Charles/North sites. 40 hours per week, daytime shifts. You will prepare patients for visits, take vitals, perform medication reconciliation, assist with in-office testing, vaccines, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Prefer 6 months of clinical healthcare experience in primary care.
• Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) and BLS on hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing the rooming process and collecting chief complaint.
• Taking patient vital signs and reviewing history and allergies.
• Completing medication reconciliation and documenting in Epic.
• Assists with in-office testing such as drawing blood, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
• Administers vaccines and injections within scope of practice.
• Schedules follow-up appointments per office policy and coordinates care plans.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA)

LPN licensure (Active)

Diploma in Practical Nursing

Under the direction of the primary care operations team, the Primary Care Patient Certified MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way. The Primary Care Patient Care Certified MA will partner with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients. Primary Care Medical Assistant

40 hours per week, Days

This is a Float pool position.

Home clinic would be Winding Woods - 300 Winding Woods

You will float to other locations in the St. Charels/North section.

Overview

• Prepares patient for visit with provider by completing Advanced Standard room process including: Entering the chief complaint
• Taking patient vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies
• Completing a thorough medication reconciliation
• Working the Encounter Guide including helping to close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exam
• Rechecking elevated blood pressures
• Completing needed documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits as needed.
• Assists with any needed in-office testing including, but not limited to, drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKG’s, walking oxygen studies and point of care testing.
• Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice.
• Schedules follow up appointments when needed per office policy.
• Collaborates with providers and clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.

Primary Care Assistant - Medical Assistant

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Experience: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.

Primary Care - Certified Medical Assistant

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification: Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA). Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

LPN Qualifications

• Education: Diploma in Practical Nursing
• Licensure: Active LPN licensure
• Preferred Experience: 6 months clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office
