Job summary

Optum, part of the American Health Network (AHN), is hiring a Medical Assistant for our New Albany, IN primary care practice. The role involves clerical and clinical duties, including rooming patients, vitals, injections, EKGs, specimen collection, and managing EMR documentation with NextGen.

The ideal candidate has CMA or RMA certification (or willingness to obtain within 9 months), EMR experience (Epic preferred), and 1+ year MA experience. Schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA) or you must be willing to attain that certification within 9 months of the start date.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems and Epic is preferred.
• 1+ years MA experience and graduation from an accredited MA program are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms and sterilize equipment.
• Room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs and perform EKGs.
• Administer injections and collect specimens.
• Document patient care using NextGen EMR.
• Schedule appointments, process prior authorizations, referrals and insurance verifications.
• Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with in-office procedures.
