Job summary

Job Description

We're looking for a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who is excited to support high-quality, patient-centered care in our Primary Care clinic. Working under the supervision of the Clinic Manager and Lead Resource Nurse, you'll provide both clinical and administrative support to help ensure efficient clinic operations and a positive experience for patients.

In this role, you'll prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, assist providers during clinical procedures and visits, coordinate appointments and referrals, manage patient communications and medical records, and complete insurance and medication prior authorizations. You'll work collaboratively with clinic and office staff, RRH departments, external facilities, and other personnel to support efficient patient flow and access to care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care support, including taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations
  • Assist providers during clinical procedures and patient visits
  • Support efficient patient flow throughout clinic visits and other patient encounters
  • Schedule appointments, maintain medical records, and process referrals
  • Manage patient communications and complete insurance and medication prior authorizations accurately and promptly
  • Collaborate with clinic and office staff, RRH departments, external facilities, and contract and volunteer personnel
  • Provide support within a team-based, patient-centered outpatient clinic serving children and adults, including patients who may experience income, language, cultural, or social barriers to accessing care
  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, standards of care, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA requirements
  • Support RRH's mission, organizational quality, and commitment to patient-centered care
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant certification; certification must be maintained
  • Medical Assistant healthcare experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire or within two months of hire
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in the English language
  • Knowledge of office organization and basic clerical skills
  • Experience with computers, computer systems, and PC Windows software
  • Demonstrated maturity and ability to exercise careful judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with our patients, families, and coworkers
