Job summary

Actus Actuarial Search is seeking a Pricing Actuary for a California-based hybrid role with significant influence on pricing strategy. You will shape methodologies, drive insight, and directly contribute to business results.

The role requires 5+ years in P&C actuarial work, ACAS or 6+ CAS exams, and strong skills in analytics, statistics, and coding (SQL, R, Python). Expect on-site collaboration two days per week with flexibility and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics or related field.
• ACAS or 6+ CAS exams (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years actuarial experience in P&C insurance, consulting, rating organization, or regulatory environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in statistical modeling and actuarial techniques.
• Programming experience (SQL, R, Python, VBA preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead analysis of statistical data to develop pure premium rates, identify trends, and uncover key cost drivers.
• Evaluate and enhance ratemaking methodologies, recommending adjustments and validating approaches over time.
• Prepare rate filings, committee materials, and technical correspondence with minimal supervision.
• Develop and analyze classification and aggregate experience studies for filings and leadership review.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on data strategy and collection for cross-functional initiatives.
• Mentor analysts, conduct peer reviews, and ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
