Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks a Prevention/Intervention Assistant at Mathews Elementary School for a multi-year, 35 hrs/week position. The role supports youth and families by applying a prevention-intervention model to promote attendance, academic success, and graduation rates.

Under site supervision, you will work with the Community Support Team, teachers, families, and local agencies to identify barriers to attendance, coordinate MTSS, mentor students, and re-engage students with

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college experience is desirable.
• Two years of experience with students or parents in school or community agencies.
• Knowledge of Nevada State Standards, MTSS processes, and district resources.
• Licenses/certificates: Nevada driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Function as a child advocate to promote school attendance and support.
• Collaborate with administrators to establish Community Support Team and review caseloads.
• Identify at-risk students and coordinate MTSS case reviews and re-entry planning.
• Mentor students and work with families, schools, truancy officers, and agencies.
• Assist in developing youth prevention/empowerment clubs and follow-up support.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent; some college experience desirable

Two (2) years of experience with students or parents in school or community agencies

Knowledge of Nevada State Standards, MTSS concepts and district resources

Licenses/Certificates: Nevada driver's license
