Job summary

Washoe County School District is hiring a Prevention/Intervention Assistant for Smith, Kate Elementary School. This one-year, 35-hour-per-week position supports prevention-intervention programs to promote academic success and reduce truancy.

The role includes duties with family engagement, MTSS processes, and collaboration with school staff, community partners, and youth services. At least a high school diploma and two years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college experience desirable.
• Two years of experience with students or parents in school or community agencies.
• Knowledge of basic parenting, truancy, and MTSS concepts.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for school attendance and support a Community Support Team.
• Meet regularly with caseload, review progress, and identify at-risk students.
• Collaborate with families, counselors, teachers, truancy officers and agencies to promote student success.
• Provide follow-up case management and assist with youth prevention/empowerment activities.
• Support MTSS and case review meetings as needed.
