Job summary

Vital Tech Solutions is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our Newark shop. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment in a fast-paced environment, reporting findings and coordinating parts and service needs.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of diesel/heavy equipment experience, own hand tools, and are comfortable working independently; CDL is a plus, and shop-supplied tools are available for specialized tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of diesel/heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Ability to safely use diagnostic and repair equipment.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on diesel-powered equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service work.
• Repair hydraulic, steering, suspension, driveline systems.
• Troubleshoot air brake systems and electrical faults.
• Complete tire service and general mechanical repairs.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
• Service HVAC and air conditioning on fleet equipment.
• Maintain repair records and communicate needs clearly.

Shift is:

Mon-Fri - 8:30am-5pm

Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced shop environment and capable of performing a wide range of maintenance and repair duties on heavy-duty equipment and transport units.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on diesel-powered equipment
  
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled service work
  
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, steering components, suspension systems, and driveline assemblies
  
• Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems and lighting/electrical faults
  
• Complete tire service and general mechanical repairs
  
• Perform welding and fabrication work as needed
  
• Service HVAC and air conditioning systems on fleet equipment
  
• Maintain accurate repair documentation and communicate equipment needs effectively
  

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel, heavy equipment, trailer, or fleet maintenance required
  
• Ability to safely use diagnostic and repair equipment
  
• Class A CDL is preferred but not required
  
• Candidates must provide their own standard hand tools; specialty and shop equipment are supplied by the company
