Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing seeks a hands-on manufacturing supervisor for a Z Shift (5:00 PM – 5:00 AM, Fri–Sun) at its Kansas City, MO office. You will oversee department operations, drive productivity, and ensure quality and on-time delivery while maintaining Lean practices.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years supervisory experience in metal, stamping, or assembly, plus Lean, 5S, JIT, and production reporting expertise. Up to 30 staff under supervision, with HR coordination for disciplinary matters.

Qualifications

• Metal, stamping, or assembly manufacturing background; automotive experience preferred.
• Hands-on supervisor overseeing up to 30 employees.
• Experience implementing & maintaining Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Just-in-time, Production Reporting.
• Minimum 5+ years supervisory experience.
• Strong math, organizational, and computer skills.
• Two years as machine operator preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations including quality, delivery, and labor cost control.
• Plan daily lineups to meet customer requirements considering materials and manpower.
• Review work orders with staff to ensure proper form completion.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/TS-16949 standards and company procedures.
• Provide coaching to achieve productivity, quality, and delivery goals.
• Coordinate with HR on disciplinary concerns and manage shift issues.
• Ensure proper handling and labeling of incoming/outgoing material.
• Experience in setting up or operating presses is a plus.
