Job summary

Lakeside Book Company in Hagerstown, MD is hiring a Pressroom Operator 2 to operate and maintain production runs on a 12-hour night shift (7:00 pm–7:00 am).

You will review job tickets, verify ink and paper, set up fountains, feeders and plates, conduct color matching, perform quality checks, and document results while adhering to SOPs and safety policies. Prior pressroom experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Stand/walk 12-hour shift and lift up to 60 lbs.
• May be exposed to liquid chemicals or vapors.
• Read instructions and a ruler to 1/16 inch.
• High attention to detail and teamwork.
• Mechanically inclined with basic maintenance abilities.
• High school diploma preferred; 2+ years press experience required.
• Heidelberg training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain a job run: load paper, hang plates, etc.
• Review tickets, verify ink/paper, set up fountains, feeders, and plates.
• Check color specs and perform color matching.
• Run jobs with QC measures and document results.
• Identify and correct printing defects (picking/registration).
• Use measuring devices as needed and enforce SOPs.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety procedures.

Job description

Pay Grade Range: $25.75 - 33.25/hr (+$1.00/hr Night Shift Differential)

• Based on experience.
• Potential performance based pay increases at 3 months, 6 months, and during merit review.

Hours: 7:00pm - 7:00am

Schedule: Monday - Thursday (Every other Thursday based on production)

Location: 18249 Phoenix Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21742

As a Pressroom Operator 2, you will:

• Able to perform basic operations to setup and maintain a job run including loading paper, hanging plates, etc
• Review job ticket, verify ink and paper match the job, and know how to set up fountains, feeders and plates
• Check color specifications and determine how to conduct color matching
• Run the job using standard quality control measures including date stamping and checking offset
• Recognize and eliminate printing problems such as picking, piling, register and other defects
• Use measuring devices such as blanket gauge, densitometer, durometer, PH meter, packing gauge or micrometer as needed
• Enforce SOPs and assist operators when necessary
• Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping functions
• Report time and production results accurately
• Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures
• All other duties as assigned
